YUMI LASH & BROW TINTS EXPLAINED

Eyelash and eyebrow tinting, a service that’s available in almost every salon around the world. It’s simple, quick, and effective. Clients and technicians alike love the service and the beautiful results that come from it. It’s a great way to give the client fuller, bolder brows and lashes if they’re not interested in microblading or PMU. The tinting results last roughly the duration of the lash growth cycle, as long as proper aftercare is followed. Let’s take a look at some different tints, and what they can do for your clients! 

The brand of tint that we carry, and absolutely love is Yumi. With Yumi, we teach to tint during every lash lift or brow lamination, making the results even more amazing and jaw dropping when the clients see. Yumi Lashes & Brow tints are used to darken and enhance your lashes and brows, adding definition to eyebrows, and depth to lashes which will cause people to get lost in your eyes! 

Yumi lash and brow tints have been specifically formulated to work hand in hand with the Yumi lash lift and Yumi brow lamination service, without affecting the results. The tints are available in 5 colors - Deep Black, Blue Black, Deep Brown, Light Brown, and Graphite. These tints can be mixed together to perfectly fit any color of hair and add more depth to the lashes & brows to make the results pop!

Proper Mixing Ratios and Timing

In order for the tints to work, they need to be mixed with some sort of activator, which in Yumi’s case is the Liquid Oxidant. This will help the tints better stain the hairs so the results last longer. It is also extremely important that the proper amount of both the tint and oxidant are mixed. If you add too much or too little of either, you will not get the results you were hoping for.

Let’s take a look at the mixing ratios.

• Brows - Mix 8-10 drops of oxidant with 2cm of tint. When I say cm of tint, I like to think of a pea size drop of tint. So in this case, with 2cm it’s like 2 pea size drops of the tint.
• Lashes - Mix 4-5 drops of oxidant with 1cm (1 pea size drop) of tint. If tinting lashes straight after lashing lifting leave tint on lashes for 5 minutes.
• You want the consistency to be smooth and creamy yet firm. If you hold the mixing dish upside down and the tint is running down the side, it’s too runny from too much oxidant so add a little more tint.
• Lash tinting as a stand alone treatment, 10-12 minutes processing time. The reason for this is, after a lash lift, the hair follicle is still a bit open and absorbent, so it will absorb the tint quicker as opposed to if you were to tint without doing a lash lift.

Aftercare

Tint aftercare is crucial to ensure your client has the best, long lasting results. Here are some important things to avoid during the first 24-48 hours:

• Touching the lashes or brows. This could remove tint that is still settling in.
• Hot showers
• Saunas
• Hot tubs
• Basically anything with hot water/steam as this could strip the color from the lashes or brows.
• Make up
• Face oils, moisturizers, creams
• Shampoo, conditioner

After the 24-48 hours, your client is free to do what they want. We recommend creating little aftercare cards with what to avoid to help educate your clients, and ensure they have the best results.

Tinting is an amazing service. If you do not offer it already, I highly recommend that you do. It’s a great way to make your already amazing results, truly stand out and look even better! It’s a treatment that can be incorporated into almost any other service/treatment, without taking up too much of your time.
